What is the SPARCLEY Figma to HTML converter?
The SPARCLEY Figma to HTML converter is an in-house tool that turns a design from a Figma file into semantic, responsive HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and from there into an OpenCart or WordPress theme. It is for designers, agencies and store owners who have a finished design and want it built faithfully, without weeks of manual front-end work. We have used it in production since August 2026 and offer it as a service: you send the Figma link, we deliver a working site.
It is not a one-click export button. The converter does the measuring, structuring and repetitive coding, and a SPARCLEY developer reviews and polishes every page before it goes live.
It is most useful for:
- Designers who want the build to match their spacing, type and colours, not an approximation of them.
- Agencies that design in-house and need a reliable development partner for HTML, OpenCart or WordPress.
- Store owners on OpenCart or WordPress with a new design ready for their existing platform.
- Start-ups that need a fast first version of a site from an approved design.
What do you send, and what do you get back?
The input is a Figma file, or a link to it shared with view access. Any Figma file can be converted; a tidy file with auto layout, named layers and components simply needs less manual work than a loose collection of grouped shapes.
The output depends on where the design should live:
- HTML, CSS and JavaScript – semantic, responsive code for every unique page in the design, ready to use as a static site or as a front-end base for your own developers.
- An OpenCart theme – built from that final HTML and installed through the OpenCart admin, without modifying OpenCart core files. Our first production theme runs on OpenCart 3.0.3.3.
- A WordPress theme or pages – the same HTML stage turned into a custom theme that follows WordPress theme standards, or into pages for a site you already run.
How does the Figma to HTML conversion work?
The work runs in two stages: first a faithful HTML version of the design, then the platform theme built from it.
- Convert every page. Each unique page of the Figma design becomes semantic, responsive HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
- Compare pixel by pixel. Every page is compared with Figma at 1440, 1024, 768 and 390 px widths and checked at all widths in between, so the layout also holds up between breakpoints.
- Developer review. A developer reviews the converter's HTML and gives it a final polish. Human review stays part of the process.
- Build the platform theme. A purpose-built converter, not manual copy-paste, turns the final HTML into the theme. Visible texts come from the store or site data, so a multilingual site shows every language correctly.
- Re-apply design updates. When the designer changes the Figma file, the changes are applied again without repeating the whole job.
- Feed fixes back into the design. Issues found while testing the live site are moved into the design itself, so they are not lost at the next update.
Results from a live OpenCart store
The converter's first production project was a large live OpenCart 3.0.3.3 store selling electronics and security systems, in two languages. The new theme is much lighter than the store's old one: across the 11 most visited pages, content appeared 2.3× faster (0.74 s instead of 1.73 s), pages fully loaded 3.5× faster and 6.3× less data was transferred.
On 4 October 2026 we also measured how closely the finished store matched the Figma design:
- 198 measurements: 33 pages at six widths (1440, 1200, 1024, 992, 768 and 390 px).
- An average match of 99.56%, where 100% means identical and both the design and the store were filled with the same store data.
- Checkout pages matched at 99.6–99.9%.
- 34 design pages converted, plus 26 internal OpenCart pages built in the same design system.
- 51 fixes found while testing the store, 36 of them for mobile, were moved back into the Figma design.
How do Figma to OpenCart and WordPress builds differ?
Static HTML only has to look right. A store or CMS theme also has to work with the platform's data, so the converter places the design around the platform's own content instead of hard-coding text and prices.
For Figma to OpenCart, product names, prices, stock, options and categories keep coming from OpenCart. The theme installs through the admin and leaves core files untouched, so future OpenCart and extension updates stay safe. Before starting, we check the store's version, current theme and installed extensions, because they decide which pages need extra work.
For Figma to WordPress, the result is a custom theme that follows the WordPress theme structure, or a set of pages within an existing theme. Text, images and menus stay editable in the WordPress admin. The measurements above come from the OpenCart project; the HTML stage, with its pixel comparison and developer review, is the same for both platforms.
What still needs a developer after conversion?
The converter handles layout, styling and structure, but it does not invent behaviour that is not in the file. A loosely built Figma file – no auto layout, detached components, overlapping layers – needs more manual work too, and we tell you that after the first look at the file, not after the invoice.
Even with a tidy file, these parts still get hands-on developer work:
- Interactions and animations – Figma prototype transitions, sliders, mega menus and hover effects are rebuilt in code.
- Business logic – checkout steps, shipping and payment rules, product filters, search and customer account areas.
- Forms and integrations – validation, email delivery, CRM connections, analytics and tracking.
- Content management – deciding which fields the client can edit and wiring them into OpenCart or WordPress.
- Quality checks – accessibility, page speed, cross-browser testing and real content that is longer or shorter than the mock-up.
Why convert Figma to HTML with a tool, not by hand?
Hand-coding from a mock-up spends most of its time on measuring and repetitive markup. When a tool does that part, developer hours go into logic, testing and finishing details instead.
- Speed – the first working build is ready much sooner, and later design changes are re-applied rather than rebuilt.
- Faithful to the design – the build is measured against Figma rather than judged by eye; our live OpenCart project averaged 99.56%.
- Lower cost – fewer manual hours mean a smaller bill, because we charge for the real time spent, not for hours the tool saved.
- Consistency – extra pages can be built in the same design system, as the 26 internal OpenCart pages were.
- Safe updates – the OpenCart theme does not touch core files, so platform and extension updates do not wipe out the design.
How to get your Figma design converted
Send us the Figma link and tell us where the design should live: HTML/CSS, OpenCart or WordPress. Mention your platform version, theme and any must-have features. We review the file, point out anything that needs extra work and come back with a scope and an estimate.
To make the conversion smoother, use auto layout, keep components attached, name your main frames and include at least one mobile frame. If the design uses commercial fonts, check that the licence covers use on a website.
Once the site is live, we can also look after it as part of ongoing support.
Frequently asked questions
Can you convert any Figma file to HTML?
Yes, as long as you share it with view access. Files built with auto layout, components and named layers need less manual work, and we tell you about any extra effort before work starts.
How close is the result to the Figma design?
On a live OpenCart store we measured an average 99.56% match across 198 measurements: 33 pages at six screen widths from 1440 to 390 px. Checkout pages scored 99.6–99.9%.
Can you apply a Figma design to an existing OpenCart store?
Yes. The theme installs through the OpenCart admin without modifying core files, and products, prices and stock still come from the store. We check your version, theme and extensions before we start.
What happens when the designer updates the Figma file?
The converter re-applies the changes without repeating the whole build. Fixes found during testing are kept in the design itself, so an update does not undo them.
Does the converter replace a developer?
No. It automates layout, styling and structure. A developer still reviews every page and handles interactions, checkout logic, integrations and final testing.
How much does Figma to HTML conversion cost?
It depends on the number of unique page templates, the interactions involved and the target platform. Send us the Figma link and we will reply with a scope and an estimate.
